Time : 11.00am to 12.00pm
Location : Carl’s Junior, Sunway Pyramid
Aim : Updates and Discussion on Task
We decided to have a meeting today at Sunway Pyramid to continue our discussion on the project. Tan Yu Ming has already showed me his World 2 boss yesterday which I have approved. Besides that, he was also able to complete his world transition map. Although it was not how I pictured it to be, the others agreed that it was good enough. Joe Lim then showed us his improved version for the stages of World 2. Although there were still changes that needed to be made, we agreed that it was much better than the previous ones. He has also managed to come up with a few monster samples for the World 3. Tan Yu Ming gave his opinions on them and also suggested Joe Lim on which monster was better and how the other monster was not made so well. Teoh Seng Yen has also finish creating his stage 5 with the burning house and along with the boss monster standing at the end. I was also able to finish my part on creating the question chat system for the NPC to ask question and the player being able to use the mouse to click the correct answer.
Tan Yu Ming started to discuss with Tio Kok Keat if he would be able to implement the Boss animation in his battle scene as he was planning to create a nicer last boss monster. Tio Kok Keat said that he would find a way on doing it. We also took some time to discuss on how the World 3 was going to look and started finding for suitable backgrounds and platform that would be nice. Tio Kok Keat then also discussed with us on how he was planning to create his other boss battle scene.
As there was nothing much to discuss, we ended our short meeting after an hour. I then gave each of them some task that they need to complete by the following week. Tan Yu Ming would need to finish the 3rd World Boss while Joe Lim would need to finish the monsters for the 3rd World. Joe Lim would also be given the task to use some of the backgrounds and sprites we have found for his World 3 stage designs. Tio Kok Keat would need to continue coming up with ideas for the boss battle scene and also creating it. Teoh Seng Yen would need to prepare me tutorials and questions for the NPC and also monster encounters. I would need to try out the stages that Joe Lim has created and start integrating them by adding monster and items like health pack and portals. Besides that, I would need to edit his stages as he did not apply the “no collision” on his platforms which makes the player sticks on them. Besides that, I would also need to edit the platforms and background so that the player would not be able to see parts which the background did not cover.
Group Attendance : Ong Chong Han, Teoh Seng Yen, Tan Yu Ming, Tio Kok Keat, and Joe Lim.
Date : 2nd June 2014
Time : 2.00pm to 3.30pm
Location : INTI Subang Metropolitan Room 2.4
Aim : Discussion on the 2nd and 3rd World Design and Monsters
We begin our meeting with Tio Kok Keat explaining to us his current development for the battle scene. He has decided to change the camera location instead of changing into the battle scene. By doing so, we will be able to retain the character original position. Besides that, he has also fixed the monster death animation. Joe Lim was also able to finish his 4 stages for the World 2. After showing it to us, Teoh Seng Yen and I decided that the stages were not planned out properly as the character would be confused of where to go. Another problem was that some of the platform was either too far or too high for the character to jump onto. I then suggested that I could upload the game character so that Joe Lim could use it to remake his stages better.
Tan Yu Ming showed us his progress on the World 3 NPC and also his finish product on the World 1 boss. As there was nothing much to comment on it, I moved on with showing them the additional part of the game that I have integrated. We then started discussing on how the 3rd World monsters and boss was going to be. We decided that the monsters would probably look more pixelated or it would have an error kind of design. We also discuss that the fairy would be the 3rd world boss and it would grow bigger to fight the player. I then discussed with Tan Yu Ming that he needed to prepare me the World Transition Map where the player would be able to see his character moving from one world to another world after he has complete it. I gave Tan Yu Ming some suggestion that this animation could probably be done through changing from one sprite picture to another.
Before we ended our meeting, I went through with them again on each of their task for the week. Tio Kok Keat would now need to change his battle scene to be able to ask and answer questions. This would be used when the character encounters monsters around the map. As for Tan Yu Ming, he would need to finish his World 2 Boss Monster. Since there were some problems with Joe Lim stage designs, he would need to correct them and also start designing the monsters for the World 3. Teoh Seng Yen, he would need to continue to prepare more tutorials and also creating the stage 5 of our World 1 where the player would be meeting with the first Boss monster. Lastly, I would take this few days to create the NPC question chat box and continue integrating everything.
Group Attendance : Ong Chong Han, Teoh Seng Yen, Tan Yu Ming, Tio Kok Keat, and Joe Lim.
Date : 26th May 2014
Time : 12.00pm to 2.00pm
Location : INTI Subang Metropolitan
Aim : Next Task to Be Completed and Changes in Requirements
After our meeting with Ms. Leong, we got some feedback on how we should continue our development as we were slightly behind time. All of us started to discuss on some functions that we could remove that would not affect the game too much. After some discussion, we agreed that adding another gender character into the game would cause too much problem in the development time. We decided that we will still continue to have 4 worlds in our game where the last world would be the world that the player returns.
Since Tio Kok Keat gave me the battle scene too late, I was not able to integrate his battle scene into the game and had to show Ms.Leong his work separately. Besides that, there was also a problem in triggering the battle scene and returning to the normal stage after that. We all agreed that we need to move faster if we wanted to finish our project before we reach the deadline. We also took this time to discuss on how our second world would be an underground world and also the 3rd world would either be a dark world or a technology world (to indicate that the player is actually going deeper into the computer).
As for now, Tio Kok Keat would need to write a script so that the player would be able to enter the battle scene and then return back to his original location before he encountered the battle. Besides that, he would also need to fix the monster death animation in his battle scene. Tan Yu Ming would need to come up with the NPC for the 3rd world and also start creating the other world boss. Teoh Seng Yen task would still be the same as he needs to generate a lot of tutorial and also questions for me. Joe Lim has not been able to do his work as he was not feeling well. He would need to continue his progress on the 2nd World design once his feeling better. As for me, I would need to continue to put everything together and also start coding on the NPC chat system so that it is able to test the player questions. I would also need to code a script to allow the change in NPC image before and after the task has been completed.

Aim : Showing the current Prototype that I have created
A day before the prototype assessment, I showed my teammates the current prototype that I have put together. As of now, I have already put together stage 1-1 to 1-3. I also manage to get the fairy tutorial working properly in our game as it causing some errors during the weekend. Besides that, I have expanded the stage 1-2 and added extra designs and also some health pack for the character heal its own life. As everyone needed to code for this final year project, I had asked Tan Yu Ming during the weekend to create the gain in health when the player collide with the health pack. As for Joe Lim, he has also coded for me the monster movement script for the exploration stage. Tio Kok Keat has still not given me his battle scene as he said there were still some errors that he needed to get fix. He would be passing me a workable battle scene by tonight.
Before we ended our short meeting, I reminded Tio Kok Keat to submit the battle scene to me by tonight. As for Tan Yu Ming, he would need to start creating the world 2 NPC and also to finish his world 1 boss. Teoh Seng Yen is to continue to create more tutorial lessons and also tutorial questions for me to put in the game. Since Joe Lim has now completed his monsters for world 1 and world 2, I wanted to him to take over Teoh Seng Yen task on creating the World 2 stages. Lastly, I would need to continue to put everything together and fix errors that appear from integrating them together ( which always occur ).

Aim : Discussion on Progress and Task that Needs to be Completed Before Prototype Assessment
As the date for our prototype assessment gets closer, I wanted to show Ms. Leong a workable game which includes the at least the first 3 stages. Besides that, it is also important that we showed the battle scene as it was one of the important feature in our game. Another feature that is important that is yet to be implemented is the tutorial to teach the players programming logic.
We had a short meeting after we ended our class at 5pm. I told them that I was able to write another script to make the player not able to move when the chat is happening. Besides that, I have also solved the character being stuck to the wall by applying a no friction texture to all the components in the game. Both Tan Yu Ming and also Joe Lim have already made the time duration changes for their battle scene animation. Besides that, Tan Yu Ming has already started his work on the first world boss monster. Teoh Seng Yen has also given me his design on the world 1 stage 4 design. Tio Kok Keat was still delaying his work on the battle scene and said that he would get it done by next week.
For this week, I wanted Teoh Seng Yen to stop his stage design and move on with preparing the tutorial lessons and also some tutorial questions. Tio Kok Keat would need to finish the battle scene by next week as we needed to show Ms.Leong the prototype. I wanted Tan Yu Ming to also prepare me the design for the teaching tutorial. Besides that, I would also need him to prepare for some NPC for the first world. As for Joe Lim, he would be needed to design a moving fire and also wooden houses for the end of world 1. I have given myself the task to expand the world 1 stage 1-2 and stage 1-3. Besides that, I would also need to create another script to allow the fairy to teach the tutorial.

Date : 12th May 2014
Time : 2.00pm to 4.00pm

Aim : Checkpoint for Work Submission and New Task Distribution
I started the meeting by showing my progress to my teammates. I have been discussing with Tan Yu Ming on a regular basis as there was another problem with his animation sprite. This time the problem came from his death animation. After some trial and error, I discovered the error was from the way he was animating the character. I told Tan Yu Ming about the problem and he was able to create a new death animation for me on that night itself. Besides the death animation now working properly, I also showed them the script that I have written for our stage 1. Besides that, we are now also able to view the character’s life in the game view.
Tio Kok Keat have been delaying his work and was only able to show us a battle scene where the player is able to select answers but with nothing happening. His reasoning was because he was still not clear about the battle scene although we have already discussed it. Besides that, he also needed Tan Yu Ming and Joe Lim to reanimation their battle scene animation to only 2 seconds each. Joe Lim has so far completed 3 monster animations for the battle scene whereas Tan Yu Ming has completed his character’s battle scene animation. Teoh Seng Yen was still working on his stage 4 development and needed Tan Yu Ming’s help to create for him a background for that stage. Tan Yu Ming took the free time we had to get started on that work immediately.
Before we ended the meeting and head for our classes, I gave everyone their next task to complete. Tio Kok Keat needed to show me a fully working battle scene. As for Tan Yu Ming, he would need to quickly make reanimate his character’s battle movement to fit Tio Kok Keat requirements so that he can use them. Besides that, Tan Yu Ming would also need to show me his progress on the 1st world boss which would be a horse. As for Joe Lim, he would also need to do the appropriate adjustment to his battle animation length and also complete the animation for the remaining monsters. Teoh Seng Yen would need to show me the complete stage 4 design. As for myself, I would need to think of a way to fix some game errors which includes character being stuck on the wall, character moving in the wrong direction that was ordered by the NPC (game error handling) and also the character being able to move when the chat is going on.

Aim : Changes on Character and Updates
We had another meeting today for everyone to show me their work and also to discuss some changes that needed to be made or solve. I started explaining the problem I had with integrating his character into my scene. As I tried to move his character, his character body parts would be in a mess. My guess was because the bone was not working well with my script movement. I have tried to solve it with other movement script but the problem was still not solved. All of us had a quick discussion about this issue and came to a conclusion that it would probably be a good idea to just reanimate all the character movement again without bones. Joe Lim has also completed all his basic movement for all his monsters. He showed to us all of the movement and most of us agreed that some of the movement needed to be reanimated as it was not smooth.
Teoh Seng Yen has also exported to me his stage 3 a few days back to check. I showed everyone his stage 3 and they agreed it was alright but the map was still too small. I then showed them my progress on integrating everything. So far, I was able to combine the stage 1 and stage 2 together. There was some problem integrating Tio Kok Keat teleport script as it was not working the way I wanted but I manage to make the changes needed. I was also facing some problems with triggering the chat box in the stage 2 but manage to solve it after researching online. I showed my team how the player is now able to trigger a chat to appear, teleporting to the next map and also teleporting in the same map. Tio Kok Keat did not show me any updates today as he did not bring his laptop.
Before ending the meeting, I gave everyone their next task to be completed. Tan Yu Ming needed to redo his character’s animation and pass it to me when he has finished it. As for Teoh Seng Yen, he would need to create his stage 4 design along with a mission that the player is able to solve. Tio Kok Keat would need to speed up his progress and show me a working battle scene. Joe Lim would need to make some changes to his basic animation and also start animating his monsters battle scene movement. As for myself, I would continue to complete the game dialog for stage 1 and also to create a death script that would trigger a death animation and life script for the character.

Aim : Updates on Progress and Further Discussion on Battle Scene
We decided to gather at Sunway Pyramid today for our next official meeting as we do not have any classes today. We started our discussion by sharing our work progress. Teoh Seng Yen has managed to come up with a level 3 design to show us. He was also planning on inserting a switch that can be activated in order to destroy a wooden block but did not know the method. Tio Kok Keat and I had an idea of how this could be achieved. We took some time to teach and explain to him how the coding can be done.
Joe Lim was not able to attend this meeting as he has classes to attend. Tan Yu Ming has also completed his battle animation for the characters. We gave our feedback on how some of the battle scene movement can be improve. I was also able to come up with a chat system for our game. I had created a sample to show how the player would be able to click the NPC and a chat box would appear. As for Tio Kok Keat, there was still not much progression on his side as he wanted confirmation on how the battle scene would be.
We took about 45 minutes to brainstorm and discuss how we were going to create a simple battle scene to work first. We decided that we were just going to come up with a simple sequence battle first where the player would be able to click the correct choices and sequence. The animation of each selection would then be played out for the player. If any of the choices was incorrect, the player’s life would be reduces by 1.
We decided to end our discussion after I allocated the task for this week. The next checkpoint would be on the 7th of May 2014. Tan Yu Ming would need to come up with the boss for World 1. Teoh Seng Yen would need to finish the in-game quest for stage 3 and Tio Kok Keat would need to show some improvement on the battle scene. Joe Lim would also need to complete all his monster movement. As for myself, I would need to find a way to trigger the chat box to appear when the player collides with it and also to come up with the game dialog between the fairy and the player.
